GLOBIO4 Biodiversity Data in the Dataset API

GLOBIO4 is now in the Dataset API, modelling land cover and mean species abundance under three emission scenarios at roughly 300 m resolution.

Three variables are available: land cover class, mean species abundance for plants and mean species abundance for vertebrates. The data is delivered on a 10 arcsecond grid in the WGS84 coordinate system, roughly 300 m at the equator, and is listed under Landuse (Static) in the dataset interface.

Baseline and scenarios

Each variable is served as a 2015 baseline plus three projections for 2050, under the SSP1-2.6, SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5 emission scenarios. The 2050 values are model projections under assumed development pathways, not observations.

For teams working on biodiversity assessment or land use planning, GLOBIO4 provides a baseline that can be combined with the climate and weather data already in the Dataset API.
