Fire Weather Forecasts and a New Natural Hazard Group
The Fire Weather Index is now available as a seven-day forecast in the Dataset API, and the hazard datasets have been grouped under a new Natural Hazard heading.
The Fire Weather Index (ECMWF) runs up to seven days ahead with global coverage at 8 km resolution, and updates once a day from the 00 UTC run. Only the forecast is available for now; there is no historical archive yet, though an initiative to add one is underway.
The new Natural Hazard group
The LHASA landslide dataset has moved out of the soil characteristics group into a new Natural Hazard group. The group now brings together fire weather, landslide hazard, seismic hazard, the CEMS fire hazard archive and Swiss hail data, which makes the hazard layers easier to find when assessing several hazards for the same site.
One caveat on coverage
The group is not globally uniform. The seismic layer is ESHM2020, which covers Europe only, and the hail data covers Switzerland only.
